Addiction: Buying Books

my ideal prayer room/reading room/study room
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
salam,
I'm facing a drama, and quite a scary moment. (yes, again miss drama at it again. LOL). I was planning to go to the city, to do some groceries, pick up my mum's house bills (since she's out of town), and just visits some friends, then my mind started wandering to the bookstore. I insisted to my mind, that i have many books that i yet to finished, and i should really try to control my 'need & desire'. Last night, i was sure that i have made my decision, that today's trip would be consist of my mum's home, and the supermarket. Today i woke up, with the idea of getting 'that book i always wanted' started flirting in my brain again. This is what you get, an after effect of being the librarian's daughter. I got high seeing mountain's of book. LOL
The idea of getting stranded in an island never fancy me, although, i like to toy with the idea of being stranded in a big old library...*sigh what a picture*-okay, i officially have a problem.

Please God, give me strength and power over my own will.
p/s: addiction is not easy man~ its like a bad habit, or better
it's like a comfortable bed, once you're in it, it's hard for you to get off it.

yup, another rambling before 8 AM in the morning,
Anyway, Good Morning early surfers!
Love+Peace,
H

I share your addiction... I skip meals to pay for books I really want - books are better than food!

I feel you ladies! I am so grateful for my big, free libraries! Without them I wouldn't be able to read half as many books as I do. I visit two libraries regularly, each one at least once a week - and usually twice! I'm completely addicted to books, and can't wait for the day when I inshAllah will be able to have the place and money to have my own personal library!

I'm agreeing with becky, I LOVE the library! I also love going to bookstores for an entire day, and reading an entire book while there, then placing it back on the shelf. LOL!

I love that picture, what an ideal room! I hope to have the privilege of a room like that in my own house someday :)

Becky,
you should know how lucky you are,masyaAllah...I miss running up and down the library isle. When my mum was working in Malaysia's National Library, me and my sister would stop there after school, as we wait for our mom to finish her work, we'll be going around and about the library sprawling on the floor reading all kinds of books. The perks of following her to bookfest was my favorite.

Sarah,
LOL, i wish i had that kind of time, usually i'll be sorry reading it halfway, and then had to put it back because i couldnt buy it/don't have time to finish it there. Then when i come back, the book has already sold out...

I know right, the library picture is my favorite. Me and my husband would be building our own house soon, insyaAllah, and i'm hoping to have a library/prayer/meditation/study room like this. Except i would love it to have a big full size glass, so i could enjoy the view. InsyaAllah...~ I'll pray for all of us to have the privilege.

I know how blessed I am, alhamdulillah, I am so grateful to have access to libraries.

Actually, when I was about 11-12 years old I used to wait at the library every day for my Mum to finish work and pick me up... I loved that spending 1-2 hours at the library - really expanded my list of books I read and taught me how the libraries are catalogued. Oh, and then I got to the US and realized their system is completely different (at least the library at the university my love went to).

I hope you'll inshAllah have such a library/prayer/meditatio/study room soon. And ameen to your du'a.
