Ms Hijabi:Ms Judgments

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Salam,
i'm a supporter of all things modest, and I'm all for people who choose to wear their hijab. Hence, the video project me and my friends did (Hijab Roundup Campaign) which the main objective is to remind, create awareness and inspire each other. Although, Hijab as time and time again, is not JUST about a piece of cloth on your head, Its not just about covering from head to toe. Hijab is not Just about closure. Its about modesty (physical, mental and action) but most important sincerity. The point here is not all about the 'Hijab', its about how we bring ourselves-how modest we are in our daily life. To some, the hijab helped them to resist themselves from acting a certain behaviour, encouraging modesty. To some, they just don't wish to wear their faith on their sleeve. The point is now, it is all about niyyah (intentions). why do you wear them? Is your intentions are for God? or the mass public? same goes to why you are not wearing them...is it fear of the mass public's stare? or your understanding of Hijab in the Quran is just different? i don't know..i don't need the answer. Regardless if you wear them or not, how was your behaviour today. Were you shouting across the room in your loudest voice swearing at your friend for being late? Did you politely address your fellow sister who forgotten a word in her Quran recite? Did you whisper negative comment on some sister who disagree on your thought to the sister next to you? Or did you really lower your gaze when you saw a handsome brother walk by? Can you be honest and say that you are aware of your own level of modesty? It is all questions we need to ask ourselves and have your 'iman' in check. Truth is, no one knows it but you. No one knows your heart better than you, oh wait..God does. So, leave it to Him that Knows Best. Pursuit your own journey, and wish for the best for every sister and brother around you. Always keep your iman in check, because in the end, its yours that count not everyone else.
inspired by fellow bloggers for mind-provoking issue: http://organicmuslimah.blogspot.com/2010/06/apology-to-non-hijabi.html.

well said from fellow commentor on her blog:
"you deserve a standing ovation! i do wear hijab, and believe its fard, but i dont believe all hijabis are pious and going to heaven, and i dont believe all non hijabi's are going to hell either. thats for Allah swt to choose. there is no compulsion in Islam, and there is no judging, and mistreating people in islam either, for watever reason. great post!"-BubbliMuslima

Which leads me to look for this video which i saw a couple of years back, which highlighted the issue of irony of being 'spiritual' and 'judgmental' at the same time. in a very light and comical way...funny still!

Salam Hajar, thank you for another thought-provoking post. I love the double innuendo in MsJudgement.
As you know, I choose not to wear the hijab, because I don't personally believe it's mandated. It is however something I continue to study and pray about, and Allah knows best.

Salam becky,
I'm glad you like this post and thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. Yes, i watched it 2 years ago, and i still love it.
As for your belief, hey, you know where i stand in this. You didn't need to explain your stand. :) i totally respect that. as you said, Allah knows best. He certainly Do. No one should be able to say "you're less of a muslim than i am", vice versa. May God bless us in our pursue to Him. p/s: the post is all about modesty, and how we keep our behaviour in modesty. hijab or without the hijab. :)
